Amazing and Wonderful!

This is a testimony of a boy who was taken up to heaven and brought back to tell about some of the wonders. It is honest and has no motivation other than to tell of the fact that there IS a place beyond this life, and it is more wonderful than we could ever imagine. And there is the message that everyone doesn't go to that wonderful place called Heaven. Many people are going to hell. Jesus weeps for those who, for some reason, allow themselves to be deceived. The way of salvation was made so simple---all we have to do is believe in Him---that He is the Saviour, and there is no other! Romans 10:9-13

Wonderful and very comforting!

God bless Roberts Liardon! He is a dynamic man of God with excellent literature about the kingdom of Heaven and what God has in store for us. It is very comforting to know that Jesus will be there and worshipped and our mansions are custom built. But I still want to know, and I guess I'll have to go to Heaven to know, why in Heaven people go in the front door and out the back? Instead of in the front out of the front. That is very intriguing! Anyway, buy this book! It will be a blessing to you beyond measure! You may ask what the point of this book is. Well you can read about the purpose in 1 Thessalonians 4:18! God bless you!

A wonderful resource!

This book is an awesome resource/refernece book for drawing almost any animal you wish to draw. It includes many images of animals in action, which helps as a reference when you don't have the option to see the animal in the flesh. Some images include the native scenery of more exotic creatures. I use it to help an idea in my head come to life on paper, for pen & ink, colored pencil, or printmaking designs. This book is my first source to draw an animal (if the option of a live model is not possible!) The illustrations have more depth and interest than a straight forward encyclopedia of animals, adding to a more creative treatment of subjects. Easily my most often used resource book.

I've had this bok since I was 8 believe it or not and now as a college Graphic Design student it's really come in handy when incorperating clip art or designing animal schemes and motifs for my work. I've been using this book for at the very least 3-4 projects a year for 13 years now and it's still good.

Wonderful Reference!

Every art teacher I've ever had seems to have had this book, and for good reason! If you want great realistic black-and-white illustrations of animals to model a picture or sculpture on, this is a wonderful reference. Each page is full of animals in many different poses and environments, grouped by species and variety. From birds to horses to fish to insects, this book has a great many excellent illustrations to copy or just look at and admire. Most are labeled, and are for the most part are very realistic and well-proportioned. My one annoyance is the title, so bland and forgettable for such a memorable book! A great book for someone looking for a large collection of animal art.

A good book for helping children who are struggling with Inferencing

This book was designed to help speech therapists, tutors, and parents with children that struggle with the ability to inference information from what they read. Here's an example of inferencing:

A girl is walking down the street with an umbrella and raincoat.

The inference in this sentence would be the conclusion that it is raining.

The book contains a story followed by several questions that the adult can ask the child after the story is read. Each story gets progressively longer and the questions require more inferencing.

Total Misinformation

Far from being about 'real places, real people', this book is a compilation of errors. Almost everything Marsh wrote about Alaska history and geography is incorrect, her statements about Alaska Natives are not only wrong, but racist; and much of what she wrote about the Iditarod Race is wrong.
The Serum went from Anchorage to Nenana by train, then to Nome by dogsled. She attributed Togo's exploits to Balto, one of Seppala's second-rate dogs that he left behind. She described the Steps, Dalzell Gorge, the run over the Alaska Range, and Farewell Burn as 'much the same' as the relatively flat start from Willow, not Wasilla, (but hey, they start with W, have two 'l's and are on the road system). Her characters place Ruby in Yukon Territory, which is in Canada. Between Ruby and Kaltag, the trail follows the ice road on the Yukon River. I taught in Nulato and was a checker for the 2010 race and I guarantee you, the Yukon doesn't go over any mountains! Also, a few thousand dollars of gold weighs much less than a pound, not as much as two people and sled loaded with excess gear. It's also laughable that a musher with a freight sled with two (illegal) passengers and hundreds of pounds of gear, towed by Siberians and Malemutes, which are powerful freight hauling dogs, could beat mushers with lightweight racing sleds pulled by speedy huskies. Alaska Natives do not all prefer to be called Inuit. And why was a part Native girl described as 'looking not quite all human' because she had black hair and blue eyes, like her husky pup. Both the Yukon Quest and the Iditarod are about dog care and no vet and no musher would allow dogs that had ingested antifreeze to run in a race the next day. Antifreeze can kill or disable dogs, something Marsh did not make clear.

This practical book is designed to bring out the caring person in each of us. Marcy Heidish offers simple, specific ways to practice the art of caring, especially within our immediate circle of concern: family, friends, neighbors, and coworkers.
Whether it's a non-intrusive note, an open invitation to lunch, or a tray of cookies, Heidish reminds us of the many little things we can do to open the door to a caring relationship.
Highlighting the roadblocks that sometimes keep the caring self locked inside, she helps us focus on the "basics" of this art: hot to get in touch with our own hesitancies and fears, how to listen sensitively to another, how to develop a ministry of presence.
Drawing on her varied experience as a chaplain, counselor, and teacher, Heidish offers specific ways to express our caring in words, in actions, or by just being there.
